About the Course

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF), commonly known as FREC 3, is a nationally recognised pre-hospital emergency care qualification.

Designed for people who may be required to provide emergency care before the arrival of, or alongside, statutory ambulance services, FREC 3 develops considerably more depth than a traditional workplace first aid qualification.

At Event Safeguard Consultancy, we believe emergency care training needs to prepare you for more than passing an assessment.

Our courses are delivered by experienced paramedics with extensive frontline and event medical experience. Throughout the five days, learners develop their knowledge through practical exercises, realistic scenarios and discussion based on the situations responders can genuinely encounter.

The aim is simple: to develop capable, confident responders who can assess a patient, recognise deterioration, make appropriate decisions and provide effective emergency care when it matters.

Who is FREC 3 for?

FREC 3 is suitable for anyone who requires an enhanced level of pre-hospital emergency care knowledge and practical capability.

It is particularly relevant for:

  • Event medical personnel

  • Emergency and community responders

  • Security and close protection professionals

  • Those working in remote or higher-risk environments

  • Emergency service personnel

  • Motorsport and sporting event teams

  • Voluntary and community responders

FREC 3 can also provide an excellent progression route for experienced workplace first aiders who want to significantly expand their emergency care knowledge and practical skills.

Practical, Real-World Training

Knowing what to do and being able to do it under pressure are not always the same thing.

That is why practical training forms a major part of our FREC 3 programme.

Rather than simply learning individual skills in isolation, you will have opportunities to apply them within realistic patient scenarios where you need to assess the situation, identify priorities, communicate effectively and manage a developing incident.

Our training draws on genuine experience from pre-hospital care, sporting venues, major events and operational environments.

We don't simply teach you how to pass the course. We prepare you to use the skills afterwards.

Entry Requirements

Learners must meet the current Qualsafe Awards entry requirements for the qualification.

FREC 3 is physically and academically demanding and learners should be comfortable participating in practical exercises including casualty assessment, CPR and scenario-based training.

If you are unsure whether FREC 3 is the appropriate qualification for you, contact us before booking and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.

Assessment

Assessment takes place throughout the programme and includes a combination of practical demonstration, scenario-based assessment and knowledge assessment in accordance with the current Qualsafe Awards qualification specification.

Our approach is supportive but maintains the required standard.

Assessment is there to ensure that successful learners leave the course able to demonstrate the knowledge and practical competence expected at this level.

Certification

Successful learners receive the nationally recognised:

Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (RQF)

The qualification provides an established progression route within pre-hospital emergency care and can lead on to the Qualsafe Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 4).

Holding a qualification does not in itself provide a licence to practise. Any clinical interventions undertaken in employment or voluntary roles must remain within the individual's competence, organisational clinical governance and agreed scope of practice.
